How old should you be to have a iPhone 5?

Just wondering how old you should do you think a person should be to have a iPhone 5 if they get strait A's in school and they will pay for it.

Any freaking age iPhones are too simple for an age requirement

If they're old enough to pay for it, then they're old enough to have it, in my opinion. (I might say an iPhone 4 because it's cheaper, but if they'll pay for it, who cares?) Plus iPhones have parental controls built in so if the parents don't want them to have web access or be able to install apps with an age restriction or don't want Siri to recognize curse words in speech for example, that (and more) can all be turned on with Restrictions.

Of course the parents also have to make sure the child is responsible enough to know not to use the phone after bedtime and not to use it too much, and that's a tough call. Even adults can struggle with that. (I guess, unless you have to turn in the phone every night at 9pm and they turn it off or something.) And when speaking on the phone, parents have to make sure their kids know to only use the earphones or speaker phone rather than holding it up to their heads because of the radiation, and at a young age it's worse.

By the time they're in high school they should for sure be allowed one. Even if they're just like 10 years old I'd probably want my kids to have one for safety reasons. Plus with FindMyFriends (or even the iCloud FindMyiPhone interface) you could see exactly where the phone is; that's good if you're looking for your kid or if they lost their iPhone and want to find it. And because of Restrictions and Find My iPhone, an iPhone would be the only smartphone I want my kids to have.

If they can pay for it, then the age shouldn't matter. Especially if they are intelligent and will get good use of it.
