How to avoid getting mugged?

Ok first off i want to say I never got mugged before but i feel like someday somewhere i will. Right now i'm 15. Everyday when i go leave my house i feel like I might get mugged. Like when i go out i try not to take out my iphone or money unless i have to because someone might steal it. When i go out i try to bring just enough money so i don't lose much if i do get mugged. I know the number one tip to not get mug is to not go out at night and i try not to. But does anyone have anymore tip on how to avoid getting mugged? Or does anyone anyone have a story to share and what to do? I just want to learn my lesson before i get mug.

What city do you live in? Just curious. Avoid getting mugged by avoiding places you think you could get mugged. Sounds stupid but maybe take a karate class. Learn how to fight. How often do people in your city get mugged?

-Never carry $$$ or anything Expensive on You… And ALWAYs try to run Faster- than Everyone Else. Because Muggers seldom hassle Poor People who they can't Catch.

Don't make yourself a target

It is very difficult to answer, when or where you are about to get mugged. At night that is the sure way to get mugged because not only it is dark, but only a few people are around you. The best opportunity for them to commit a crime. What to do is simple, just don't panic when someone approach you or show you a bladed weapon, announcing the robbery. Just hand them over what they want, and they will leave you immediately. The moment they sense you are about to strike, they will surely cut you somewhere, like hands or arms or worst the face. So it is better to separate those valuables that you have in your wallet, esp. Money. Make one in your wallet and others in your socks or in some hidden pockets that you have so that when you are mugged, you still have some spare change or money in order to get home. Do not try to fight them unless of course, you studied Karate or Aikido in some Dojo, they will surely run when you floor one of them.

  • Why is that being mugged differs from theft? I thought being mugged is about stealing from other individuals like their cell phone, iPhone, purse ect
  • Multiple smaller checks to avoid the $1000+ funds availability hold at USAA? I have USAA and I plan on using the Deposit@Mobile method of depositing with the USAA iPhone app. I want to deposit $1200 on Monday but I need the funds a few hours after I create and scan the checks in. I plan on using two $600 checks to bypass the $1000 funds availability hold regulation (that is federally enforced, to my understanding). Any potential blow back?
