How to connect Apple tv 3 to Shelf stereo?
OK so i want to hear my music and movies through my speakers when using my apple tv via airplay with iphone 5. I'm using a Sony - 700W Stereo System and Apple tv 3. The stereo only has AUX and the apple tv only has Optical. Is it possible to connect them via an adaptor or convertor. I would like for sound to come out both speakers, not just one. Also is it possible to just connect my apple tv via HDMI to my tv and then connect my stereo to the tv via AUX. My tv is Samsung 32" 720p 60Hz LED HDTV (UN32EH4003FXZC) if that helps. Tv also has HDMI and AUX.
A cable alone won't do it. So what you need is an Optical to stereo RCA/phono converter Here's something on Amazon.ca for under $15 http://www.amazon.ca/...005DIRI6I/
If your TV has AUX sockets then they'll be for sending a signal in to the TV, not for getting the Apple ATV3 audio signal out. You can connect your ATV3 to the TV via HDMI and connect the optical via via the converter to your stereo system at the same time. This way you will be able keep both connected and choose how to watch or listen without cable swapping.
Finally, check your ATV3 user manual for how to adjust the Optical out audio setting. The default should be "stereo". This is correct for listening via a Hi-Fi. The other option is "Dolby" which is only of use when connecting to a surround system.
- Why does my car stereo make a clicking sound when I charge my iPhone? I just bought a certified preowned 2009 Mazda Mazda3 hatchback. Whenever I plug my charger into my iPhone while it's connected to the aux input I hear a repeating clicking sound through my speakers. The clicking gets faster and slightly higher in pitch as I push the accelerator. What's going on?
- Why can't I connect my iPhone to my car stereo? I have an iPhone 5C and a Sony stereo. I have tried two lightning cables, but neither work. My phone will charge, but the device is not recognised according to the stereo. Also, I have tried an aux cable: it seems like the music played through that only comes through one speaker, therefore the sound is quiet and muffled! Could there be a problem with my phone or the stereo? Is there anything I can try to fix this?
- Is there a stereo dock that will play iPhone and Android? I have an iPhone 4S and my husband has an Android. We'd like to get a stereo/speaker dock for our kitchen that will allow us to play music but obviously don't want to have to buy one for each phone. Is there a dock out there that will accommodate both?
- Iphone Connection Through Car Stereo? Right, i have my iphone connected to my car stereo via usb. Everything works fine like playing music and when i get a call the music cuts out for the phone call but when i answer the phone call it doesn't come through my speakers. Why is this?
