How to connect my S4 to my kenwood stereo?

I just switched to the Galaxy S4 from the Iphone. In order for my stereo to play my music and to charge my iphone I could just connect it to the USB port on the stereo and it would work. When I try to plug in my S4 my phone comes up with an error saying that its can't connect to the "computer" I'm trying to use. Anyway to fix this? The radio also is bluetooth compatible but I can't figure that out either.

About 90% of usb car stereos only work with apple devices and/or usb flash drives. Your new android phone is not compatible with them.
the only fixes for this are to get another iphone, or find a new android compatible car stereo. If you decide to go with a new stereo, you need to make sure that the stereo works with your phone model before you buy it. Because 'android compatible' means that it will work with some android products, but maybe not all of them.

You could always connect to the auxiliary jack. Most head units won't work with Android phones through USB.

What's the model number of the Kenwood head unit?

  • Why can't I connect my iPhone to my car stereo? I have an iPhone 5C and a Sony stereo. I have tried two lightning cables, but neither work. My phone will charge, but the device is not recognised according to the stereo. Also, I have tried an aux cable: it seems like the music played through that only comes through one speaker, therefore the sound is quiet and muffled! Could there be a problem with my phone or the stereo? Is there anything I can try to fix this?
  • Pandora on my kenwood through iphone? I just got a new system in my car yesterday and it has a kenwood stereo. When I use the USB and plug in my phone the screen on my phone just says pandora and then it has two arrows and then kenwood. I don't have the kenwood with the touch screen or anything so there's no option to chose what station or to tell what song it's on. Is there anyway to get past that screen on my iphone so I can just use pandora normally.
  • Kenwood X996 Bluetooth Audio Issue? Installed a kenwood x996 in my truck. After install I got the bluetooth audio to work. Directly out of the box it only works through the front speakers. Not the rear or subs. I did get it to work by changing I think to zone 1 but I don't remember. My battery died and reset the head unit and now i can't get it to work. I have an iPhone 4 if that helps anyone.
