How to decide between this year's Google Nexus phone or this year's iPhone?

I currently have a Nexus 5 that is running Android 5.1 at the moment. I have never had an iPhone. My upgrade is early next year. Nexus phones and iPhones come with the latest versions of their respective OS's. Google I/O 2015 will clear some details for the Nexus phone(s). WWDC will probably do the same for the next iPhone(s).

Just make it easier on yourself to transfer and stick with Nexus.

Previously I was using iPhone 5 so now I looking to transfer all the data from my iPhone to Google nexus 5. Can anybody here please advise what should I do to transfer or copy iPhone 5 data to my new Nexus 5 Android. I can't afford to lose my important contacts and text messages. This is my first question here, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
