How to get my iPhone speakers (internal) to work again after having water damage?

Yesterday around noon I had my iPhone 4S in my purse… Along with a Gatorade. Well as it turns out the Gatorade lid was not on right, so it spilled all throughout my purse potentially reaching my phone. It was about a max of 3 minutes before I realized what had happened and I immediately took my phone out and dried it off. I put it in my pocket and then maybe 5-10 minutes later I got to my friends house and began emptying my bag out and drying everything off. As I was doing that, my friend asked to use my phone. I took it out and then I saw it, the LED flash was on. Having previously gotten an iPhone wet, I knew instantly that this was a signal for water damage. I immediately put it in a sealed container of rice. I didn't turn it off immediately and i was hesitant to touch any buttons since turning if on and off with my previous phone was what shot it). **keep in mind this phone is a replacement for my last damaged iPhone that I received from my insurance company; this meaning my current [wet] iPhone was once someone else's. That someone else broke it and sent it in to the insurance company then revived a replacement. The insurance company then refurbished this one and it was then sent to me** with that, I had very low hopes that the phone was going to work. About 27 hours later, I took it out of the rice and began charging it. It was working. I was utterly happy. It turned on and was glitching some. After several minutes, the glitching began to subside and the phone is now operating quite smoothly. The only downfall I didn't realize until an hour after I turned it on: the speakers don't work. Headphones work fine but when unplugged, the music continues playing as if they weren't which is opposite of what a normal iPhone should do. My phone won't ring or make any noise without headphones. My phone is my alarm. So I need this function. Anyone think they can help?

The one main thing you didn't do in the first place was to turn it off. Then you should have taken the battery out BEFORE putting it in the bag with the rice. The only chance you may have now is if a hard reset may fix it. Take out the battery and let it sit for a few mins. Then when you put the battery back in and turn it back on, it will go to the factory default reset mode.

  • Will my iPhone still work after water damage? It fell into a bucket of water last night and I can't turn the phone off because the screen is black. I can hear the phone ringing and vibrating, but can't see anything. I put it in a bowl of rice, is this fixable? Will the screen eventually work?

  • My iphone internal speaker doesn't work on phone calls but does work when hearing a voicemail? The speaker to talk won't work but will work to play music, but not while making a phone call. Or i could hear my voicemail but when making a call i can't hear anything.
  • IPhone 5c internal damage Stupid me didn't get a case for my iPhone 5c and of course I've dropped it a couple times. For the past couple of weeks now my phone will randomly start typing by itself, won't let me open up different apps, and won't let me type anything! It's driving me insane. I'm constantly restarting my phone. Now, I was wondering if anyone knows if apple will fix this? Considering it was my fault. If they won't, is there anywhere I can take it to be fixed?
