How to get the Internet to work outside the house?
Today I got an iPhone 5 as my birthday present and my Internet is working perfectly fine when I'm at home. In the contract it says when I'm not at home I have 1gb of Internet to use, I don't know how to get enable it. I'm so confused. Someone please help!
It seems you have internet at your house and share it with a Wi-Fi router…
When you leave your house it automatically switches to your data network (internet) which is limited.
Either get a better plan or better provider…
Since you said you just got your iPhone 5 and are asking about how to enable the data I'm assuming that it is your first smart phone?
You could have gone over your data plan and they are throttling your data to pretty much unusable speed. 1 GB of data is not a lot. You can use that up in a few days if your not careful when watching YouTube videos, Web browsing or playing games.
With it working at home and not when you leave the house makes me believe that when you are at home you are connected to your Wi-Fi source and when you leave the range of the wireless router your phone switches back to the phones data plan.
When you are at home if you have a Wi-Fi network you can use that network to access the internet. To do this you need to enable the Wi-Fi on your phone. Settings Wi-Fi > on and join the Wi-Fi network in your house and enter the correct password by whoever set by the Wi-Fi at home. If you haven't a Wi-Fi network at home then you will have to use the 3/4G mobile plan on your phone. If you enable the Wi-Fi on your phone it will use the Wi-Fi in preference to your 3/4G mobile plan.
When you are away from home you use the mobile 3/4G network to use the internet. This is normally already enabled for use when you get the phone. If you go to settings, mobile data and check the settings are set to on.
You should also be able to use free Wi-Fi spots in starbucks wetherspoons and pret a manger. You should do this in preference to your 3/4G mobile internet otherwise you will start to use up your 1GB allowance, once you use up that allowance you will be charged extra on top of your usual payments.
Hope this is clear now

- Why won't my iPhone 4S go on the internet outside of a Wi-Fi zone? So I have a two year old iPhone 4S and live in turkey. We went to the states in summer, in which I had to turn off my cellular data and stuff so I don't get charged, when we came back, I turned all of it back on, but whenever I leave my house, I can't go on Instagram or twitter or anything. Why does this happen and how can I change it? This has been going on for two to three months
- Why is my iphone not connecting to internet outside of Wi-Fi? Ok. I restricted my internet on my iphone to be used only on Wi-Fi because i was about to go over my covered data. The data renewed so i unrestricted it. However, its like i didn't un restrict it at all. It still works on Wi-Fi but when its outside of Wi-Fi it won't connect. All of the settings is turned on for data to be used. Any ideas what may be going on or wat i could do?
- Why can't I use internet on my iphone outside of my house? My Wi-Fi works perfectly fine when I'm in my house, but when I'm away from my house i can't go on the internet.
- My iPhone 4S has stop connecting to Internet outside my home? When my phone is out of my home wi-fi range it doesn't connect to any form of wireless. No 3G, no edge, no nothing. I've tried restarting it and I'm not that great with technology talk so if you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it if you kept the advice quite easy to understand.
