How to get warranty on apple products?

I have just got a new Iphone and I bought it unlocked. What do I have to do to get warranty on my new device.

Will apple still cover me with their 1 year apple warranty? My uncle gave me his iPhone 4S as a gift, it has warranty until November 2013 and for some reason the phone turns off by itself about every 3 hours! The phone does not have any water damage as the water indicators are white, will apple still cover me on fixing it or giving me another one since I'm not the original owner but the phone is still under their warranty!

Why are apple products so expensive? It's all repetitive. There's no 'new innovative technology'. Apple just adds stuff they purposely did not add to the previous model just to get more sales. Just like the iPhone 4s. They could have easily gotten 4g LTE connection, but it does not and that is going to be one of the 'golden features' of the iPhone 5.
If I have a warranty with apple do I still have to pay to get my iPhone fixed? I just found out I still have a one year warranty on my phone and I recently cracked it. So if I take it to my local apple store do I still have to pay to get it fixed with the warranty? Forgot to add. How much will I have to pay if I have the warranty that came with the phone?
