How to play a downloadable MPEG-4 video file on my iPhone 5?

There's a website that says their videos are MPEG-4 downloadable format. Every time I try and open to view the videos on my iPhone, it gives me the play icon in the middle of the screen but it has a slash through it making it not possible for me to play.

Use the MPEG 4 iConverter on your computer then transfer the file that it outputs onto your iPhone and it will play.

MPEG-4 is a very broad specification that covers many types of video formatting. The iPhone will require " MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second". If the file is not providing that you will need to convert it to a H.264.m4v or.mp4 (which are themselves MPEG-4 files).

Convert the mp4 to m4v with a free program (handbrake) specifically made to do such things for the iphone/ipod/ipad.

Use a video converter to convert the video to the right format, Freemake video converter is a free one.
