How to repair a iphone 5 that got wet?
How about this. Either get the watertight Liquipel, or a Otterbox or Lifeproof case that are also watertight. That way if you have to get a new phone, you won't suffer the same tragedy.
Dry uncooked rice in a bowl/bag for 24-48 hours straight… And pray
if that don't work, then you will need some elbow grease, and hammer, and lots of built-up anger… Lmao!
Put in warm place and cover with cottonwall. If not I would check to see if you got a warranty and if it covers the accident.
I was a repair technician for a place that repairs cell phones and have seen and tried most ways of fixing a wet phone.first of all RICE DOES NOT FIX A PHONE. NOR DOES HEAT. They will prolong your problem but not fix the issue. If your phone is wet NEVER turn it on or plug into a charger that is signing a death warrant. You need to open the phone. The only way to save a phone (and i have done this myself and it works) is to displace the water. The best product for that is WD-40. If you don't have WD-40 its main ingredient is fish oil and you can pop a pill with a pin and use it and it does work. So with the phone open and the batter if not removed at least disconnected you need to apply the WD-40 to a Q-tip and slowly and thoroughly clean all connectors, pins, components, and solder points. Now you need to remove the oil from the WD-40. You will need to repeat the process using at least 70% if not 90% rubbing alcohol 90% is what I used. The alcohol with dry without residue. If you don't have alcohol you can go to an auto parts store and get electrical contact cleaner NOT CARB CLEANER and do the same. Its a little easier with the spray cleaner but not as thorough.wait 12 hours then power the phone back on.
the problem with rice or the combination of rice and heat is that all it does pull the excess water out of the phone. The damage is already done at this point.within 1min corrosion is already starting to happen and it will grow like a fungus all over the interior of your phone. And oxygen in the water will cause damage to the metal components as it dries and the impurities in the water will cause arching across the circuit board. You have to clean all traces of the water out of the phone to truly fix it. Hope this helps I also hope you have insurance on this phone because times like this are when you really need it. Its always better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

- IPhone got wet but it still works. Repair it though? So today at lunch my coke fell over my iPhone, I quickly picked it up and dry it like any other person would. To my surprise everything work perfectly, well except the speakers, at the beginning it was hearing low with the volume all up, but after some minutes it started to hear normal. Should I send my iPhone to "repair" even though it is still working fine? My iPhone is still under warranty and it haves insurance.
