How to restore contacts and music only?

My boyfriend hacked my iphone 4, so I bought the iphone 5 and I'm trying to get the information back to my new iphone. But I don't want to risk it and download the tracking app or bugg that he used to track my phone. How do I download the contacts only?

Step 1

Open iTunes on a computer that has an Internet connection. Verify you have the latest version of the software by clicking "Help," then "Check for Updates." Update iTunes if necessary. If you do not have iTunes on your computer, download and install the software via the link in the Resources.
Step 2

Connect your iPhone to the computer and select it when it appears under Devices in iTunes.
Step 3

Choose the "Music" tab and confirm that the "Sync Music" box is checked, along with any other particular options you desire in the music section.
Step 4

Right-click (or Control-click) the iPhone in iTunes and choose "Back Up." The backup preserves your settings and important data, including your contacts and music.
Step 5

Choose the "Summary" tab. Click the "Restore" option to bring up a pop-up window that asks if you're sure you want to restore the phone to its factory settings and warns that all of your media and other data will be erased. It also notes, however, that once the process is complete, you'll have the option to restore your contacts, calendars, text messages and other settings.
Step 6

Click the "Restore" option in the pop-up window. Once the restore process is complete, iTunes will prompt you to set up the iPhone. You will have the option to set it up as a new phone or restore it from a backup.
Step 7

Choose the option to restore from backup. If you have a choice of which previous backup to use, select the backup you just created.
Step 8

Click "Continue" and a progress bar indicates that iTunes is restoring from backup. (This backup includes your contacts.) Once completed, a pop-up window will appear, stating that the settings for your iPhone have been restored, that you must leave the iPhone connected to your computer and that the device will show in the iTunes window after it restarts. You may wait for the message to disappear or click "OK." After the phone shows in iTunes, the software will reinstall your phone's apps, if you have any, and music. Once the process is complete, the LCD-type display window in iTunes will state "iPhone sync is complete. OK to disconnect."
Warning

When iTunes is backing up or restoring your iPhone, do not unlock the phone or disconnect it.

  • Whatsapp contacts - if they're onnm contacts am I on theirs? I have the phone number of an old friend stored on my iPhone and they also show on my whatsapp contact list… Does this mean that they still have my phone number stored in their phone and also have whatsapp installed on their phone? The chat thing says they haven't been seen since 28th sept? If they didn't have my number on their phone would they still show as one of my contacts on whatsapp?
  • My iphone needs to restore and I don't want all my music and apps deleted? Okay so I was doing the software update for my iPhone and after about an hour it said the update had failed due to an unknown error. Next thing I know a window comes up on my itunes that says, "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." and that's my only option. If I restore it, I fear losing all of my apps and music that I paid for. Is there any way I can restore it without deleting all of my music and apps?
  • Is there an iPhone timer app that has a minutes-only and/or a seconds-only option? I'm looking for a timer app on my phone where I can set a timer that counts down, but have it read literal minutes or seconds. Like instead of 6:00:00 for 6 hours, I'd want it to read 240:00 (240 minutes) or just have it read 14,400 seconds. I've downloaded about 20 free timer apps, and can't find what I'm looking for. Is there one? Even if it costs money? But I'd prefer it to be free…
  • If I restore everything to iCloud on my iphone, can I restore everything and get it all back? I have too many things on my iphone right now, and I was wondering if I can restore it and get everything back from ICloud
