How to send a TEXT message to someone without turning iMessage off?

Hi, I'm getting a little annoyed and was wondering if there was a way to send a message as a text message to another iPhone user without turning iMessage off. I'm getting confused because my friend has an iPhone like me but her iMessage is turned off and mine is turned on so when I text her it sends as an iMessage so she doesn't get it… Is there a way to fix this? Without having her turn on iMessage or me turning off iMessage?

When sending the message you'll have to be teally fast and tap and hold it as it's sending and click send as text message. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. That's the only way I know how thougt

You are still seeing iMessage because your friend hasn't turned it off.

Here are the instructions to turn it off: Tap Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off.

  • Send iMessage as text message One of my best friends just switched from an iPhone to an HTC One X. When he texts me, I can't text him back because it sends as an iMessage and he doesn't receive it. How can I send an iMessage as a text message? I have iOS 7 downloaded onto my iPhone if that helps. I've already tried to hold down the message for options but all it says is "Copy" and "More". When I tap more, it just selects the message so I can resend it. Nothing's working!

Okay tbms it turns on and off on and off and then sometimes it shows a red screen for a few seconds then off again and dies out.
