How to take iPhone abroad without charges?

Hi, I want to take my iPhone on holiday with me but just use it as a iPod, don't need to use any phone features and just want it for the camera and music. If I remove my SIM and turn data roaming off is there any way I can still be charged? Is there anything else I can do to prevent charges?

I think you can contact your carrier and ask to suspend your service so you won't be charged your monthly fee either… Hope this helps

Go to Settings and turn on Aircraft Mode.

That completely disables the radio modules in the phone, so you can use the ipod, camera and other facilities on a plane.

When you get to your destination, you can turn Wi-Fi back on without disabling Aircraft mode - so you can use any free Wi-Fi access points that are about, but the phone itself is still disabled - look for the orange aircraft symbol at the top left, where the signal strength bars normally show.

As long as that is there, the phone system is disabled with or without a SIM.

  • Should I take my Iphone 4S abroad? Hi I'm going on a school trip to the Ardeche in France for 6 days, the only problem is that we have to sit through a 20+ hour coach journey to get there, I'm debating on whether to take my iPhone 4s with me because it is the only thing that would keep me entertained throughout the journey.
  • Roaming and Wi-Fi charges abroad So I'm a bit confused at the moment with roaming and Wi-Fi. I'm abroad right now staying at my relatives house and both my iphone and iPad are connected to the house Wi-Fi and also put on aero plane mode. Will I still be charged even though I've got both of these on? Also if I'm not connected to the Internet but just use photos and no go on the Internet, will I still be charged? Thanks I was able to connect to a Wi-Fi while using aero plane mode.
  • How to use my iphone in Singapore without extra charges? So I live in America and am planning on visiting Singapore this summer. I have an iphone 5 and I was wondering if there was some way to just use the phone for taking pictures/using Whatsapp/Snapchat while I'm over there without being charged by my carrier. I won't be using my phone data but probably just wi-fi. But if someone calls/texts me will it still charge me for it?
