How to transfer my iTunes library to a new computer?
The original PC with all of the files is HP. I got a Toshiba laptop today and I wanted to sync my music files from the old HP to my Toshiba. I don't want to use my iPhone to transfer any files- resetting it is too much of a hassle and my iPhone only has a small amount of the music actually on it. Could I use a flashdrive to transfer the files?
Now it gets more complicated (maybe.) Once I transfer the files, I want to create a new iTunes account; I've been using my mom's account, but I want my own independent one with my email address, billing, etc. Could I keep all of my files? I'd assume so as long as I'm not using Home Sharing (which I don't really understand anyway.)

Sure use a flash drive. Depending on the amount of songs you may have to move partial at a time. If you had access to a storage device on a network you wouldn't need the flash drive.
- Will downloading a new iTunes ruin my old iTunes library? I tried connecting my new iPhone 5 to my iTunes but it said that it wouldn't connect because my version of iTunes was really old (from 2010) and I never updated. It said I need to download a new version of iTunes (10.7 onwards) for it to be compatible with my iPhone. But my question is, IF I download a new version of iTunes, will all my old songs on my old iTunes disappear? Because if I had to re-download my whole library, I would seriously cry. That would take the rest of my life.

I just created a new account on her computer (MacBook Pro) for us, but I can't seem to transfer our songs to that account. Every time I try to transfer the songs from my iPhone (same songs as on my mum's iTunes), it says that they've been transferred but the library stays empty. Any suggestions?
