How to transfer my number on orange to O2?
I have a regular sim card and i was wondering how i would get that sim from Orange to O2, while keeping my number and unlocking my iphone?
It's called porting your number (taking your existing number to another network). Contact your existing phone network and ask for the PUK number. When you get this just give it to your new network and you will be able to take your existing number with you so no need to tell family and friends you got another number. The PUK lasts for 30 days. Use it or lose it. With respect to getting your iphone unlocked, just contact your network (Orange) and tell them your going on holiday and need your phone unlocked because you need to use your destination countries sim card to keep your costs down. A country a long way away lol. Depending on whether you're a monthly contract or PAYG you may be charged. I was not charged by my network provider to have my contract iphone unlocked by them.
- Will an orange pay as you go sim card work in my iphone orange contract phone? My orange phone is still in contract but could do with a different number on pay as you go as well, would rather just get the sim card and swap them over, but can always buy a cheap phone as well
- Why is my iPhone number being displayed wrongly on my number? My number is X, but on "my number" settings, it's being displayed number Y. Why is that? Also, some people told me that when I call or text them, the number Y is appearing to them, not the number X as it should. On the other hand, if I call the number X, my iPhone rings normally, but the same thing doesn't happen when I call number Y.

However, when I send an imessage it shows the recipient a different number to mine. I don't think this happens when I send a SMS. Presumably it's the original number for the new sim? Why is this?

I'm buying an iPhone 4 from a friend which is on the Straighttalk AT&T micro sim plan. I'm moving to the Straighttalk AT&T plan and need to know how to get my number changed over and where to get a new micro SIM card from.
