How to update my iphone 1st generation?

It doesn't let me use instagram because it says i need to update my device, help! I tried to but it fails, any suggestions?

Maybe get a new more updated phones. That my best advice.

You can't update IOS on the Original Iphone anymore, IOS updates got discontinued back in 2009 I believe, your best chance is to upgrade your phone, meaning get a new Iphone.

Jailbreak witl whitedoor, you might get an old version of instagram that way.
if you need a new iphone, email me i have a few for sale or trade.

The last version of iOS available for it is 3.1.3. Even if you got it to that point, assuming it isn't already Instagram will not work as most apps require iOS 4.3 or higher to run. Not even the iPhone 3G would be able to run it.

You should look into selling it & getting the 3GS at least.

  • What has an IPhone 5 got that an IPhone 1st generation or 3gs doesn't? I want an IPhone 5 but it's too expensive, I can get an IPhone 1st generation or 3gs but what's the difference?
  • What apps will work on the iPhone 1st generation 3.1.3? I just traded my iPod touch 3rd generation for an iPhone 1st generation. While thinking this was a good deal, I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to get any apps. This iPhone has iOS 3.1.3. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Also, if I jailbreak the iPhone, would this work to get all the apps I want?
  • Thoughts on buying iPhone 1st generation in 2013? Not to use as a phone! (I have the OG Atrix for that) but as a collectors item/something that could hold alot more value in the future. You can get the original iPhone for 50-80 dollars on ebay in pretty good condition, do you guys think that buying a few of them to hold on to would pay off at all in the future (5-10 years from now) when people will begin to want them as collectors items? Or does it not really matter at all once they've been used does that make them junk?
  • IPhone 1st generation stuck on apple screen after powered on? The I phone doesn't go past the apple logo screen after it is turned on. What does that mean and how can you fix it? Is it expensive?
