How to use IPhone overseas when travelling?
So this summer I'm going to Spain from Canada for a month. I'm leaving June 30th and returning early August. I wanna know how to use my phone abroad because I wanna have it with me. I only have 750mb of data to use/month so I'm aware that I should turn off data roaming and cellular data itself. I don't wanna have my phone bill altered whatsoever. I'm gonna have Wi-Fi where I'm staying so I was wondering how I would go about using it to iMessage or do whatever I want while I'm on it so it doesn't affect my data charges. I'm with Koodo for my cellphone provider. Any suggestions/tips will be greatly appreciated!
Just turn on airplane mode
You can still use imessage and facetime free over Wi-Fi. Read about how airplane mode works: http://www.gatorspit.com/tips/iphone-airplane-mode.html?y
Put it on Airplane Mode & leave it there until you return. Can put on Wi-Fi while in AM to access the internet.
- Will my iPhone change time travelling to the Philippines? I just want to know if my iPhone alarm or time will change automatically to Philippine time? I'm travelling to the Philippines next week and I have to take my birth control with me. I usually take my pills at 10PM (Vancouver time). I don't know what time to take it in the Philippines. I usually put an alarm on my phone to remind to myself to take my pills. But i don't know if it will effect my phone when I travel.
- What to do with iPhone while travelling abroad? I'm going to Italy for vacation and I want to bring my iPhone without getting massive phone bills. I'm not gonna call or text but only use it for music, pictures and Wi-Fi. Am I safe if I just turn off data and put my phone on airplane mode?
- What should I turn off/on on my iPhone when travelling abroad? I'm going to Germany for a few days and I'm taking my O2 Pay and Go iPhone5 but what settings should I turn on or off so I don't get charged a stupid amount or use all my top up money? I'm guessing data roaming should be turned off for a start. I do want to post pictures while I'm there though too, should I only do this when I can find a Wi-Fi signal to connect to?
- What do I need to do to use my iphone overseas? I want to take my iphone overseas to take photos, update my status/pic on facebook and to be able to sms home to Australia. I have unlocked it and Vodafone has told me to get a sim over in the US, is that all I need to do?
