What should I turn off/on on my iPhone when travelling abroad?

I'm going to Germany for a few days and I'm taking my O2 Pay and Go iPhone5 but what settings should I turn on or off so I don't get charged a stupid amount or use all my top up money? I'm guessing data roaming should be turned off for a start.
I do want to post pictures while I'm there though too, should I only do this when I can find a Wi-Fi signal to connect to?

There's 2 ways to do this. First of all you can turn off your mobile data and 3G. This will stop ridiculous fees building up but you can still ring out and still be contacted. Of course ringing/texts will cost depending on your plan and you should discuss this with your carrier company.

The second way, which is what I do, is to leave your phone in Airplane Mode. This stops any signal to and from your phone but you can also still use your Wi-Fi. This for me is the safest option and I use the Wi-Fi to text ad call through various different apps: Whatsapp, Line, Skype, FaceTime.

  • Will my iPhone change time travelling to the Philippines? I just want to know if my iPhone alarm or time will change automatically to Philippine time? I'm travelling to the Philippines next week and I have to take my birth control with me. I usually take my pills at 10PM (Vancouver time). I don't know what time to take it in the Philippines. I usually put an alarm on my phone to remind to myself to take my pills. But i don't know if it will effect my phone when I travel.
