I can't tell what I look like?

I have taken my senior picture and I look like somebody else compare to the ones I take on my iPhone selfie. The senior picture looks so ugly but some selfies look great sometimes. Then I do the 90 degrees mirror thing and I look more like the ones I take selfies so I don't know why I look so different in my senior picture. I possible can't have changed in the past 5 months

Selfies are taken with a camera or mobile held at arms length. These cameras have wide angle lenses which tend to cause your face to become distorted. Sadly it seems that you have gotten used to this distorted view of you and now that is how you "think" you look.

The photographer who photographed your senior portraits used a medium telephoto lens and used light to provide an excellent representation of you. If the photographer did a good job, then what you are seeing in those photos is what you look like to all those around you.

If you can't tell what you look like, you must be blind. Look in a mirror, have a professional photographer take a picture of you, have someone that know how to take a good picture with the proper lens at the proper distance. Avoid looking at stupid selfies!

Either you're relying on what you see in the mirror (which is the reverse of what others see, and also the reverse of what a camera sees) OR you have a ideal illusion of yourself… You idealize yourself looking "different," or "better."
