I found an Iphone 5 at the bus can i change the IMEI?
I found a very cool iphone 5 at the bus… Lucky me, but i'm afraid they look for it with the imei and find me, i was wondering if i can just change the imei so i can keep the iphone?
We're not here to help you STEAL.
The IMEI can't be changed.
If the owner doesn't claim it take it to the police or an Apple store.
No you can't. It's basically a phone version of a fingerprint. I've heard of ways to jailbreak the phone to try to gain access to downloading some program online in your phone that supposedly changes the imei, but this DOES NOT WORK and I've heard nothing but bad from that (i.e. Some pretty nasty viruses and even spyware). This requires the phone to be hooked to a computer, so I bet it'd infect the computer too. It's a scam. These days, stealing a phone is risky business. At best, they can just lock up the phone to be unusable (bad ESN). At worse, they can actually activate the phone's GPS and find where you're at, and you could even be fined. You should take it to the nearest Apple store for them to find the owner. Don't try taking it to the owner yourself, because if they want to be nasty about it they could still fine you.
1. You can't
2. Why not try to return it instead of covering tracks?
- Would restoring my iphone to another iphones settings change the imei? Basically i bought a phone from cex about 2 weeks ago and one of the buttons has stopped working. I went into the store and they said they could not fix it because the imei's were not the same. Could i have changed it by restoring it to my old iphone's setting via the restore feature on itunes?
- Lost iPhone - blocked imei - now found, can I unblock? I lost my iPhone but someone kindly returned it to the hotel I lost it at. I reported it stolen/ missing at the time and it got blocked- obviously I can't really afford a brand new iPhone 5 when this one is fine but now my sim doesn't work (no signal just 3G) if I go to O2 with proof it's me will they unblock it for me?
- Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
- Is it possible to change/crash/scramble the IMEI number of an iPhone 5s? I accidentally crashed the IMEI number of a Samsung Note 2 while flashing the stock ROM on it (CM11 was in use) and now a friend lost his iPhone and told me it's not possible to crash/scramble the IMEI on it. Is it possible to do so or not?
