I just got a call from my own number?

It was really weird. My phone started ringing and so I answered it. But then this voice started talking and it was saying really stupid jokes? It kinda had a voice like Elmo and I just played along then a deep voice was like "Want to come over and play?" O. O so I hung up cause that's creepy. Then a few minutes after I got a call from a different number asking who I was and why I was with her boyfriend… I hung up after about 30 seconds because I knew it was fake considering it's not true… But I'm just confused. How could someone call me from my own number? They were prank calls I guess but… That's creepy. I have verizon and an iphone 5 if that makes a difference to anything

They use prank call services. They pay a low price and they spoof their number so it looks like a different number. The pranksters probably picked a random number out of the phone book. Hope this helped.

Don't answer it, now you let the spammers know they are reaching someone.

The scammers, whoever they are could NOT have picked a random number out of the phone book as my better half was getting calls from her own number on her iPhone and at the exact same time our house phone was getting calls from our house number, so again NOT RANDOM. If you answer a recorded message says only "Goodbye" and line disconnects. Ignorant.
