I'm 17 and want to develop an iPhone app?
I just need to have some questions answered before I can think this through.
- How much does it cost to develop a simple app (in the UK)? How much does it cost to develop a more complex app?
- What is the absolute minimum money that goes towards creating an app?
- Do I need any special softwares (excluding photoshop)? Like are there any softwares specifically for app development?
- If it's a free app and it includes mini advertisements, how much profit will I make?
These are the first questions that came to mind… You don't have to answer them all as I will be doing more research, but if you could help it'd be nice.
1) It costs around $100 (£67) to commercialise your iTunes account, which allows you to be able to sell music/apps/video etc. On iTunes. In terms of per app, it depends whether you make it all yourself (so theoretically costs £0), or if you pay a programmer/graphics designers etc. To make parts of it for you
2) £0 if you make it all yourself, though there may be a cost in buying software to create it
3) You would need a program to code to app for you. Adobe Flash Professional may be able to do this, though I'm not sure about whether it could make for iOS aswell.
4) It depends. If your app isn't very popular, then not a lot. You may be paid by amount of clicks user click on ads, or a set amount for how many days that add is on your app
To develop for the iPhone, you must use XCode, which is the development environment for creating your app.
see
https://developer.apple.com/...com/xcode/
The application is free, but is for mac only. You can actually start writing code now, without any upfront cost. The application has a built in simulator in which you can run your iphone app. This way, you don't have to have the physical device (iphone, ipad, etc) plugged in to test.
When you are ready to take the plunge, you can pay your $99 to get a developer license, and then you will be able to upload to your device, test on it, and upload the app to the iTunes store.
Do some searching on YouTube for some tutorials. They go a long way.
Check out 'thenewboston' on YouTube. He take it step by step. Everything from installing XCode, to learning Objective-C, to writing a simple game.
Give it a shot!
- Join me to develop an iPhone app? If you want to help me develop an IPhone app or just want to learn how to code an iPhone app let me know, I been coding with Xcode about a year now.
- Is there an inexpensive way to develop an app? I'm a college student with a few ideas for iPhone apps that I would like to release. The only problem is that the cost for developing one seems to be a little on the high side for me and is money I don't really have at the moment (I have less than $500 saved up). Does anyone have any recommendations on what would be the most inexpensive way to develop a quality app for IPhones and Android devices?
- I want to buy a macbook pro to develop iphone app development? I want to switch to mac from windows. I play games in pc i.e windows. my main concern to switch to mac is to develop ios applications for iphone, ipad. is 13 inch 2.5ghz non retina display model is good enough to develop applications using xcode.
- How to get legal permission to develop an app for a site? I have been reading some requests on a site called poptropica, and a lot of people want it on iPhone. I know I have enough coding-digital art skills to make it, but how do I get permission from the developers to do so? Would they likely officially hire me?
