I'm not able to open files (photos) or import them from my phone to my laptop, can someone help me solve this issue?

I have an iPhone and a Microsoft laptop. I connect the two together with a charging cable and when i connect my phone to my laptop it charges so the cable is functional. But when i go to open a file the option to do so usually is but all i can open details about my phone but no photos extra.

Open photo on the phone you want to import.Tap on it. On the top you will see sign Share (three dots like triangle).tap on it. You have ability to send photo to email or One Drive etc.

Read these instructions three times. So you understand.

boot up the laptop. Boot up the iphone. Create folder on your pc's desktop. Connect the iphone to the laptop using the smart-phone's usb cord. If microsoft attempts to sync, deny the action or click the window closed.

open file-explorer and locate the iphone in the drives on the left of window. Down-arrow until you reach lowest child-folder on iphone. Click folder one time. The files will appear in window on the right.

right-click and drag (choose copy) to folder on desktop. Do not "move" files. Moving the files might ruin the iphone and brick it.

once you have finished copying the pics. And before you disconnect the iphone. Go into control-panel / devices. And choose "remove" iphone device. Microsoft will seek confirmation and you agree. If you do not perform this step, you could corrupt/damage either os.

now you can remove the iphone's usb from your computer.
