I need to replace my charging port on my iPhone 4S but it won't turn off

So i need to replace my charging port in my iphone 4S because of water damage in the charging port. I have the new port and tools, but due to the broken charging port, i can't turn the phone off to install the new charging port. Since i can't turn it off, can i just drain the power and let the phone die and then proceed with the replacement?

Hold the power and home buttons together for about 10 seconds and it should shut off.

  • Why port forwarding on port 80? I have a foscam home security camera and it needs port forwarding on port 80 if I want to use my iphone to view it from outside. Surely enough, it works as soon as I open that port. But isn't port 80 open by default? Else how could I view http websites in the first place. I don't get it. It's already open so why open it again?
  • My iPhone has been charging an entire night but won't turn on? It has water damage but was repaired with minor issues as expected. The last two nights its taken longer and longer for it to charge to turning on. Last night is the worst because its been charging for over 8 hours and hasn't turned on. AND YES the lightning bolt' symbol is on. Anyone have this prob? I'm worried it will just never turn on again? Have you heard of this happening? Yes I've tried the soft power down holding both buttons doesn't do anything to turn it on

Last night I plugged my iphone into its charger and I noticed that the charging percent would go up and then it would go down again, eventually i left it alone and it went up to 100% charge. Well today I let my iphone die all the way on accident and I plugged it in and it said it was charging, well its been two hours and it still says its charging but it won't turn on and when I unplug the charging cord it says to plug it back in and that the iphone is dying.
