I sorta got caught stealing?

Okay here's the thing, I'm 13 I was in a Walgreens with two friends. We honestly were just walking around the store maybe making more noise than we should of but not to much to worry. Some store clerk who looked really weird followed us the whole freaking time. I thought it was very immature and kind of inconvenient for him to follow us. Anyways I saw a green phone charger for a iPhone 4 that I somewhat needed. I picked up walked down a aisle and tried to take the tag off. Put it in y pocket took it back out tried hard to put it off and said screw it and threw it on a shelf. The store clerk said are you gonna buy this and I said no I don't need it and he said I saw you try to take the tags off and I said no I promise you I wasn't and I said I'm not a thief and just left. What can happen? I'm really scared please help! I'm a great kid nothing ever bad!

First of all don't believe the answers that say nothing will happen because you didn't actually leave the store with it. You attempted to remove the tag which is the same as stealing under the new laws for theft and attempted theft.
you were on video seen doing it. All the stores have video. The cops will take the pictures of you around to all the schools and ask the counselors who you are. Once they find out they come to your class and arrest you in front of everybody and you will be known as a thief the rest of your life. When you try to get a job it will show up on your background check they run on you won't get hired except at a fast food place, or other low paying job. YOu have ruined your life. If you are lucky you will get probation but they can put you in juvie until you turn 18.

Just messing with you. You are good for now, but everything I said above could happen if you actually do steal and get caught.

Don't even listen to this Diane, she doesn't know her but from a hole in the ground. You are a thief and a liar. You tried to steal something, and got scared and tried to ditch it, then told a bald-faced lie when confronted. People think you have to leave the store to be charged with shoplifting. Baloney! That is store policy. Under every applicable law I have seen, concealment of merchandise or attempting to remove security or price tags is theft. The store employee had every right to confront you, as loss prevention is the responsibility of everyone who works there. I started out in Loss Prevention in Indianapolis, IN, and I guarantee you, your parents would have had to come to the store and the store would have a file on you. You would possibly be banned from the store after that.
