I was sold an iphone 4s with an icloud account still signed in?

I recently bought an iphone 4s from a flea market from the owner of a stand. When i got home i wanted to reset and i didn't do so because since the previous owner was still signed in and i was afraid that itll lock completely and ask for the account info in order to activate it using my sim card so i didn't do so. I went back to the flea market and tried to find his stand but it has been about 3 weeks since i went and he wasn't there anymore i tried asking around other sellers in the area and they told me that sellers come and go so they don't really make friends with other sellers, is there a way to take off the icloud account in order for me to safely reset it? Google on how to delete an icloud account, then move on. Do not use the account since its not yours and could be dangerous, since their account could be attached to other things like on iTunes on their computer, and they could see if you changed something. Just go to settings, reset the phone. Try and find where it is, look in folders in settings, etc.

But my question is if I put it into dfu mode and try to restore it will I be asked to sign into the unknown icloud account. Meaning will I need the password for the account?
  • Icloud signed in but not locked? Hi, I just bought an iPhone 4s off of ebay and the icloud is signed in under the previous owners apple id. I'm still however able to use the phone and download apps and everything. I don't know what I will be missing/losing if I don't return the phone and the old ID stays signed in to icloud It is wiped of everything but their contacts and the fact that they are signed into icloud. I'm asking if this will have any effect on me using the phone
