I would like to use my pc to tether / Wi-Fi to my iphone5?
What hardware do I need to purchase to receive a Wi-Fi signal to my iphone from my desktop computer. I would like to save on my data plan. The hardware would have to be small, I've seen some very small devices but would like a recommendation. Also any apps available?
You need a Wi-Fi adaptor for your desktop
they are cheap, starting about $20, and will let you link up your phone to your desktop and share your internet connection.
Why not just buy a cheap Wi-Fi router?
Connect the PC to the router via ethernet, configure the Wi-Fi network, and have your phone connect to it. This way you don't need your PC to be on for your phone to use the Wi-Fi.
Also if you get other devices that use the internet (game console, TV, blu-ray player… ) they can also easily connect to the router and share the internet connection.
- Which prepaid mobile network in the US allows you to tether your iPhone? I've been looking at Virgin, who offer uncapped data on month-by-month plans, but it's not clear if they allow you to tether your iPhone (AKA use it as a 'personal hotspot'). Any suggestions?
- Tether internet with iphone on pay and go o2? I have an iPhone 4 and I'm on O2 with pay and go where I pay £15 a month to have texts and internet. - Iphone 4 won't come out of recovery mode after failed attempt of boot tether? After a failed attempt to boot tethered my ios 6 semi-tethered jailbroken iphone4, my iphone has gone into recovery mode (as i think) and won't come out. I've tried a bunch of solution to get out of dfu mode, recovery mode, and others and nothing has done anything. As my observations has found out that the phone is not completely black so i presumed its in recovery mode. Please help me out. I've tried using redsn0w 0.9.15b1 and tinyumbrella but they haven't detected it.
