ICloud Activation Lock?

I recently bought an iPhone for my little sister off of ebay and when I tried setting it up for her it said that the phone had an iCloud Activation Lock. I don't know and can't contact the previous owner so I can't get their apple ID to sign in so I can unlock the device. What do i do?

Contact Ebay. You bought a stolen phone. They may or may not be able to get you a refund, but they can at least blackball the seller.

You'd have to try harder to contact the owner or accept the fact you were screwed. There's no way past the activation lock without the username and password combination.

Yep. Very common. People sell stolen iPhones that are iCloud locked and you can't contact them any more; they're like ghosts.

You could return it. EBay is generally very good at helping when you get an item that is not as described. However, you have to make sure you read the listing completely. IF the listing specifically said that the phone is iCloud locked, then there's not much you can do. If it doesn't say that it is locked, eBay should help through their Buyer Protection program.

There's nothing you can do to "unlock" the phone.
