IPad or iPhone to bring abroad?

I'm 17 and I have an iPhone and iPad - I'm going on holiday to Spain and obviously I can't bring both.
Overall, the iPad would be better for the plane, reading, etc but the iPhone is pocket sized and needed for communication, perhaps in an emergency. What do you guys think?

Which would be more upsetting to lose? Leave that one at home.

iphone would be a lot better for emergency communication, just be very careful that it doesn't get stolen and use it discreetly in public.

You can actually take both with you. Just remember to buy a European iPad wall charger if they've both got the same connection port, you'll need to buy 2 chargers if one is lightning connector and the other 30 pin. (according to Genius bar in Melbourne, Australia the phone/pod chargers will not work on the pad).

Would also be cheaper if you make sure the phone is unlocked and buy a pre paid sim from a Spanish service provider.

  • Which camera should I bring? Studying abroad in London/Travelling Europe? I have these options: a DSLR Nikon camera, a Sony videocamera (small), or should I buy a digital camera? In addition, i'm bringing my iPhone 5s, which has pretty good quality as well. I'm just afraid I'll lose my DSLR, should I buy a digital camera or take the small videocamera? Suggestions? I will be studying for a semester in London and traveling to a few countries in Europe as well.
  • What use is an ipad or ipad mini to someone with an iphone and macbook? I'm thinking of getting an ipad mini or ipad 2 for someone who already has an iphone 5 and macbook pro. I don't know how useful it will be since they are not likely to use it outside of their home and i'll be getting the non 3g version so it won't be much use when they take it out anyway.
  • What development tool can I use to program in iPad for iPad and iPhone? I want program or code using my iPad for iPad. What development tool can I use? I need a tool for iPad so I can code in iPad. It seems the tools suggested require MAC. I want to code using my iPad and not in PC or MAC
  • Is it common to bring dslr cameras to study abroad? I'm going abroad in the fall for a semester and I was wondering it if was worth buying a dslr camera. I own an iphone 5 and a point-and-shoot camera that works okay but the sometimes takes blurry photos. Is it worth buying a $400 dslr camera? Is it common for students to bring dslr cameras while studying abroad or is it too clunky? btw I'm in college
