IPhone 4 very slow and lags a lot?

I have had my iPhone for about a year and over the past week the internet, games, and texting all have become slower. The games lag so much that you can't even play them. I heard that if you delete some unnecessary things your phone will return to original state. I now only have two apps that do not come with the phone, subway surfers and Instagram. I also have very little music and deleted a lot of photos.
Is my phone dying and going to stop working? Is there a fix to this? Will it remain like this until I get a new phone?

Just update it and that will wipe EVERYTHING from it, it will just be a blank iphone with a running system. It should work then. But if you want to spare yourself the trouble, I'd upgrade.

If you double click the home button it will show you all the apps that are still open even if you deleted them they could still be open on your phone so you just double click the home button and hold your finger on the app until it starts shaking then you just hit the little red icon and it will close it this might help speed it up hope this helps

Did you know your text message also hold a lot of memory! Delete those, here are your options

  • Why does when the iphone 4 connects to the internet, the Wi-Fi lags? Whenever my sisters iphone connects to the internet and i play a online game league of legends for example, i get a very high ping and i start to disconnect and reconnect. Could you help me fix this. Oh btw, my sister won't get off and shut her iphone down.

  • When I pull my notifications down, it lags? Recently i've realized on my iphone 5 that when I get a text message or any notification, that when I pull it down nothing shows up for a couple seconds so then I have to release it and do it again. It lags all the time, mostly for text messages. I'm wondering why it does that because it never use to do that. Its a 32 gb so I have alot of memory to use up still like 13 gbs. I don't know why its lagging so badly.
  • Quicktime lags and VLC plays iphone movie sideways. What can be done in either case? So I had my son take a short vid with his iPhone and transferred it to my HD. When I played it with VLC (or others) it plays sideways. Speed is normal though. Then I played it with QuickTime and the vid played normally (Portrait) but the speed was too slow. QT is lagging. Any help with both issues would be appreciated. Thanks to all. BTW would I need to upgrade codecs?
