Iphone 4 won't charge (water damage)?
A few weeks ago, my iphone4 was accidentally dropped in water. I did the following:
(1) Turned it off. Removed the SIM card
(2) Let it sit in rice for a week.
(3) Took the entire phone apart and scrubbed the logic board and components with >70% isopropyl alcohol
After that, It didn't charge. I relaced the batter which had a little charge. It connected (i could play music on the idock) but wouldnt charge.
*Taking it to Apple is not an option… But I understand is a last resort. But I'm looking for ways to fix this on my own for now
Your battery shorted out and can no longer hold a charge.sell it for parts.
apple won't do a thing for a water damaged iphone.
Put it in a box of dry rice or bring it to the Apple or phone carrier store if you have warranty.
You probably fried the inside of your phone when you pressed the power button on the top to turn it off. You should have left it alone and put it in the rice. That happened to me before to. The guy at the apple store said that I fried it. When I pressed the button to see if I was OK. Luckily, I had insurance though so I got another one.
- Why won't my iPhone 4 charge after water damage? My middle button wasn't working either but I sat it in a bag of rice overnight and now it's working again, only problem is my phone won't charge. I took my case off and dried it the best i could and shook it to get some of the water out. It was in rice for about 8 hours and I charged it for a little, and the screen won't even turn on, but the flashlight won't turn off.

I'm immersing it in rice right now, but in case that doesn't work can I take it to the Genius bar? The two external water damage indicators are not red and my phone looks normal. Would they be able to tell anyway? Are there any other remedies other than rice I can use?
- Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
