Iphone 4s is it worth it up update the operating system?

I'm currently running the 6.1.3 version, is it worth it up update to the operating system 7.0.4? I don't like the way it looks, and I use the phone a LOT. I use the radio, and depend on my phones battery at work. It hardly lasts the day as it is, with out me charging it on my breaks. Will this new operating system slow down my phone, crash apps and overall kill my battery, like everyone says on the internet? I hear from others its worth it, but they all have the new iphone 5 or 5s or 5c. I'm using the oldschool 4s. Any opinions?

I updated my iPhone 4s and wasn't impressed. It still works okay, but I hate the interface so much I went out and bought a HTC ONE.

I also updated my iPad 3. I was similarly unimpressed. It now seems very slow and seems to hang a lot.

I also have an iPad 1, which can't be updated, and I actually prefer using because I find the older interface appeals to me more. I wouldn't bother unless you NEED to.

The only reason you would want to do that is if you want the latest and best of everything. IOS 7 just looks different. Right now, I see no reason to update unless a specific app you want to download requires it.

However, as with all things, you will get used to it. It won't kill your battery or crash your apps but it will make it look different because and IOS for the iPhone 4s is not the same as the one for the 5 or 5s.

So far, from playing with the iPad Mini running iOS 7, all the fancy animation really bugs me, it takes a longer for things to open up and simply I think it's better to stink with iOS 6.

IOS 7 can be annoying interface-wise, but I upgraded mine and my wife's iPhone 4S's because of the new iCloud feature in iOS 7 that makes it impossible to use or reset any iPhone that has been stolen. It makes it impossible for anyone to use your phone (or turn off your ability to track it) if they were to steal it. This is the number one reason you should upgrade. In NYC (where we live) the police even handed out pamphlets at the subway stations encouraging people to upgrade to iOS 7 to prevent theft.

I didn't notice any loss of battery life on mine or my wife's phone when we upgraded to iOS 7. That said, we both work at locations that have access to iPhone chargers, so battery life isn't calculated too carefully.

  • Will updating my iPhone apps affect my phone speed as how updating the Operating System (OS) will? Currently I'm using the iPhone 5s on iOS 8.3 I know if I were to update my phone to the latest OS I may notice some slowdown on my phone's performance, since it may not have the "muscle" to handle certain functions. Many apps now are optimised for iOS 9 and/or the 6th generation phones. Will my 5s' speed performance slow down if I update my apps? Will the app's performance slow down?
  • What is the iphone 3gs original operating system (IOS)? I just bought a used iphone 3gs and the guy who was selling it to me reset the phone and i need to know what the IOS number is, It needs to be activated to
  • Missing operating System on laptop? I have a Acer 7560 Laptop and I reseted my hard drive (like deleted everything) because it was so slow and some guy put a lot of programs when I wanted it fixed so it was useless. I thought it was going to be like the iPhone when you start all over but now when I turn it on all it says is "missing operating system" and I don't have a recovery disk or usb! So it's stuck like that. Can I buy a disk or usb online if so what type or do I need to take it to someone.
  • Mac vs PC operating systems? I don't want to buy an Apple computer for iPhone development if I don't have to, but could I get the Mac operating systems on my computer? Dell XPS L501X Laptop It has Windows 7 on it already. I have researched that only some computers can have both Windows and Mac. I really don't understand operating systems all that much except how to use them for what I do.
