Iphone 4s will not work at all?

I have an iPhone 4s. I used it for years. Then I got a new cell phone and didn't use it for at least half a year. I had it in my drawer. Now I tried to plug it in to charge it Cuz I would like to get my old pictures off my phone. But it will not charge or turn on nothung it is dead beyond dead. I have canceled the phone with the company it with but they still want money for leaving my contract but the phone is not under any service and I still used it after I canceled it i could use it under Wi-Fi and listen to music… But now after half a year I can't do anything. Was wondering what is going on or if it is fixable

It's an iPhone 4s! You need to make sure that you are charging it with a Apple charger - the 4s is quite picky regards it chargers, and you may need to leave it on charge for 12 hours or so!

Regards the contract, when the contract finished did you cancel it, if not then it would have rolled over, and the service provider were still as far as they were aware providing you with a service - even if the phone is turned off and in a drawer; so if you didn't cancel then you do owe them the money! If you cancel the contract now, you can remove the SIM and listen to music etc, but for the period before cancelling you still owe for the service!
