IPhone 5 got wet, how long do I keep it in rice?

So yesterday my friend accidently spilled some water (out of a water bottle) on me while I was texting on my phone. I reacted pretty fast and got it out of the way, but some water got on the top of the back, like the camera area. (*It was not a lot of water*) I dried it off as much as I could with my shirt, but it was lightly raining so I don't think it got fully dry. I left it on and it was working fine. About an hour later when I got home, I plugged it in to charge and realized no sound was coming from the speakers. They were working on my way home so I guess it was because I started charging it. I unplugged it from the charger right away and turned it off, used a blowdryer to dry the inside and left it in rice overnight. I turned it on this morning and it was working fine, the sound was back. I'm just scared that there could be some continued damage a few weeks from now or something. Should I leave it in rice for a bit longer or is it okay to use now? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Added (1). EDIT: Overnight, it was in rice for about 8 hours. I turned it on when I woke up and it worked fine. I turned it off and put it back in the rice before I left for work.

1-2 days in rice should tell you whether it will work correctly again

Just incase there's still water in the phone you should leave it in rice for another 24 hours to be positive its dried out. I didn't and my phone stopped working completely about 3 days later.

  • My iPhone 4s got wet, and it has been in rice for 2 days now, It won't turn on? Like I said it has been in rice for 2 days now, the lock button was broken before it got wet, so it won't turn on, even if it is plugged in the charger. What do I do? How can I get it to work again?
  • I dropped my iphone in the sink. Its still works. How long should i keep it in rice? I dropped it. it was fully submerged for about 2 seconds I had an otterbox defender prob why it still works How long before i take it out of rice
  • How long will it take for the rice to soak up the wet iphone? There's a blue line on top of the screen of the phone, so i'm guessing that's water? So like how long should i have the phone in the rice.right now it's been an hour. And by the way i already turned it on so the battery will die right? And once how long it takes for the water to soak up from the rice? Charge it and then see if it works?
  • How long should I leave my wet iphone in rice? I was pouring milk into my cereal bowl this morning, and the milk container ended up pouring all on my iphone 4S. When it got wet, it wasn't completely soaked, but it's not like it was just a splash of milk either. I think the milk managed to get in some of the cracks. I really don't think it is as bad as an iphone being dropped in water completely, so I'm thinking that I don't need to keep it in rice for as long. How long should I keep it in the rice?
