Iphone 5 vs Canon Powershot sx130is?

Going on a trip soon out of country and just wondering if using my phone in airplane mode/data all turned off for some pictures would be easier or use my older camera? Picture quality which is better on the camera screen not really sharp but says its a 12.1 Mega Pixels

Your camera will probably take a better shot since smartphones do not do well in low light situations. As far as which would be easier to use, I really don't see how turning on the SX130 and pressing the shutter button could be any more easy. Getting the images to social media, on the other hand, is a another story.

Your SX130 IS has 12MP, but that's not related to sharpness. Sharpness is due to the lens. The megapixels just means how large you can print the file while maintaining that sharp, photo-quality look. You will get sharper pictures with a 12MP and a great lens than had you used a lousy lens on a 40MP camera. It's just that with the 40MP camera, you can print larger before the image becomes pixelated.

I suggest you do some trial comparisons between the two before you go on your trip. Nobody here will have both, and will not be able to give you as good an answer as you can give yourself simply by doing your own comparisons.
