Should I buy canon powershot sx50 hs or t3i?

I really like the zoom of canon sx50 hs but I was wondering does it take a clear picture, If you compare it to iphone 5s how from 1 to 10 is greater?

and should I buy another camera?

Go for the t3i if you really want to get into photography. The Canon rebel t3i is a DSLR camera used to take professional photographs- its lens can be changed as you need to-- Get the t3i with the 18-55 mm lens and start getting used to it-- it will give you shots a million times better than the powershot sx50 which is only a bridged/ compacted camera.
Get this t3i with the bundle of things you will need as you get into photography

You're going about this the wrong way.

Do you want to start serious photography with a DSLR and standard zoom?

Do you want the all-in-one convenience of a bridge camera?

Either way, Canon are only one manufacturer, and may not necessarily be the best for you, so decide which you want, and then take a long, hard look at the competition, going for the model that feels best in your hands.

I think the best of the modern Bridge Cameras is the the Fuji HS50 EXR. It has a slightly larger sensor and better image quality than the Canon contender.
But let me try to answer your actual question: First visit, http://www.flikr.com and search by camera to see the kinds of photos people are taking with the camera of your choice.
Compared to a modern smartphone is not easy to judge because a smartphone like my Nokia Windows 8 phone in good lighting can take photos like this one below.
But smartphones are very bad for zooming is as it just crops the central part of the image and magnifies all the digital noise and other processing artefacts.
On a scale where 1 is worst and 10 is best compared, I would rate the iphone or similar smartphone at 4, the bridge camera at 6, and the entry level DSLR with a good lens (not the Canon 75-300) at 8.Should I buy canon powershot sx50 hs or t3i - 1

The iPhone and other smart phone cameras are just fine for snaps of friends and family in good light. Real cameras still beat them in photographic challenges such as low light and focusing.

If you really like the zoom of the SX50, then go for it. I really liked the zoom of the Pentax X-5, bought it and have no reqrets. The SX50 has more zoom, raw format files, manual focus, and manual exposure controls that my Pentax doesn't, so go for it.

  • Should I get a Canon T2i camera? I'm a freshman in high school and I want to pursue photography. I love making movies and taking pictures but I only use my iPhone for it. I really want to get a good quality camera that takes good videos and pics. I also want one that's not too complicated but is big and professional. I'm thinking about getting a Canon T2i but does that match the description of what I want?
