Should I buy an Iphone 5 or a Canon camera?
I want to take good quality pictures. I'm not very photogenic and I really want to take good pictures. I have a digital cam but i look fugly.
Using a TELEPHONE to take photos won't make you look any better in them.
Phones are meant for talking to people, not for taking photos. Even the best phone "camera" doesn't compare to a basic P&S camera.
If you want to take decent photos of yourself, it is about learning how to do it properly, not about buying a phone and expecting miracles from it.
How to take better self portraits
Rule # 1: Do NOT make a duck face (this is a general tip - don't have a fit if it doesn't apply to YOU)!
Rule # 2: Don't just hold the camera in your outstretched hand, that is such an awful look! It distorts your features and screams: "SNAPSHOT!".
Rule #3: No mirror photos - they are passé and even a little pathetic.
Use a CAMERA - not a telephone and not a webcam.
Make an effort to take a decent photo, then you either won't even need to post-process it, or at least it would be worth while to do so.
Make sure your camera is set to the biggest possible size and the highest possible quality. Pay attention to the lighting and to your background.
Take a photo when and where there's enough (diffused) light - you do NOT want to use a little on-camera flash!
If you don't have a tripod (or better still an assistant), put your camera on a little bag of rice on top of something sturdy and use the self timer to take a much better photo of yourself.
If you already have an iPhone, then get a camera app (cheep or free) and get the canon. If you don't have a phone, and is in highschool or higher/out of school, get the phone
I found phone cameras are very good? At taking pictures of fender benders for your insurance company. In regards to a Canon camera you want one with a zoom lens to about 135mm-to-200mm.
I don't know what "fugly"means but I can imagine photographic results from a phone camera. You need to remember that pictures of people look their best when a medium telephoto lens is used. This type lens compresses the face so that noses do not appear gigantic and ears appear very large. If you want to minimize things like wrinkles, you want the skin texture smooth, I suggest a Tiffen warm soft filter about an "F3, these filters sell for about $48.00.
