IPhone 5 with no service plan? International SIM?

I recently lost my iPhone 5, but I happened to have found it today. I already bought a new iPhone 5, so my old one no longer is activated/serviced by my carrier (Sprint). I'm leaving the US to Hong Kong for a couple of months so I was wondering if my previous iPhone is now unlocked. If I inserted an international SIM card into my old phone, would it work?

Call Sprint if you can have your iphone 5 unlocked to use outside the US. From what I've known it needs to be active for 90 days for them to unlock. I'm just not sure now that you have a replacement phone. Call them up and explain the situation. Yes, international SIM would work for Sprint iPhone 5 provided unlocked.

  • Using an old iPhone with international sim? I'm going to be studying abroad in Ireland from January through May of this year. I just got a new iphone 8 last week and I still have my old iphone 6. I was planning on keeping my iphone 6 so I can use an international sim to get phone calls, data, etc. Since I've already activated my new phone and taken my old phone off the account, will I need to call verizon and have them unlock my old one(iphone 6)?

I want to buy an international SIM card for when I arrive in Italy so that I don't have to put a new phone in Italy. Does anyone know the cost and what is included in buying an international SIM card. The fee in mins, where can I call, texts, Internet, can I still use Wi-Fi? Serious answers only.
  • Traveling to the Dominican Republic. International SIM card I will be traveling to the DR in March. I currently have an unlocked iPhone 7 that was purchased from the Apple store. I use a Straight Talk SIM card for service. I would like to used my phone while traveling but don't know how to use a international SIM card or which one will work best. Any suggestions?
  • Same network, Iphone 5 only receiving Edge service, Iphone 4 receiveing 3g service? Running IOS 6.1.2 on Iphone 5, 6.1 on Iphone 4 Both on O2 Can't get 3g service on iphone 5. Iphone 4 can and they are both in the same room, any ideas why?
