IPhone 5c fell into water

So I dropped my phone into dishwater while trying to clean and talk to my mother. I had a case on my phone that blocked most of the water from getting to the phone. Except for the charger port, headphone jack, and the other stuff on the bottom of the phone. I dried it and put it into a bag of rice. But my supervisor may call at any point. And there's so many I use my phone for. Bottom line i'm always busy. So since my phone didn't really get wet and I dried it pretty thoroughly. Does it have to stay in the rice for the full 24 hours or can I take it out in the morning?

Added (1). I put it into the rice about an hour or 2 ago and I get up to go to work at 6

Leave it in as long as possible. It will give it the best chance of working again

Leave it in the rice for 24 hors
DO NOT TURN IT ON IT WILL SHORT CURCUIT.
