Iphone 6 in washing machine screen unresponsive?

It got soaked, for about 3 minutes before i realized it was missing. Took it out, put it in rice, it turns on but the screen does not respond to touch. The screen never went black and its impossible to turn off without swiping the off thing. (I've tried holding down the home button and off button but its just a reset) anyway to shut it off without a reboot? And what should I do?

If it was 'soaked' and you powered it up multiple times, it may be beyond repair.

Water conducts electricity. Electric current in an electronic device is supposed to flow ONLY along carefully designed routes (circuits). When water is present, the electric flows EVERYWHERE, causing short circuits and damaging components. This is why a device should IMMEDIATELY be powered off (and battery removed, if possible) after it's been wet.

We can't tell how much damage from the water has already been done. That will have to be done by a technician. IPhones have a sensor that can tell if there has been water damage. If so, the technician MAY be able to do some repair, but the cost can be as high as a new phone.

In any case, there's nothing more YOU can do. You'll need a qualified repair facility to help you.

Replace The Phone.

  • My iphone 5s went on a washing machine and it turns on and the screen too but the touch dosent work? I tried putting it in rice and drying it with a hair drier or blow drier everything works except the touch and the screen has a white strap going down and you can see the water or water stains any suggestions
  • My iphone 5 was in the washing machine It was in the pocket of a pair of sweatpants for about 5 minutes by the time i realized i had left it in there the water had just started to run. My phone was wet but there didn't seem to be too much damage. The music still played fine and i could hear people on calls. But then i noticed a screen discoloration in the bottom left corner! Is this bad? Do i need to go to the Apple Genius Bar or to the Verizon store? I'm soaking it in rice now and it is still in warranty.
  • IPhone dongle went through washing machine? I accidentally left the dongle (lightning to aux adapter) in the pocket of a jacket that went through the washing machine. The cord s completely dry, so is there any harm in trying to plug it into the iPhone and an aux cord to see if it still works?
  • Iphone 5 in washing machine? My iPhone 5 was accidentally put in the washing machine for 1 hour (hot soapy water & a really harsh spin cycle), luckily it came out without a scratch, but it wouldn't turn on. And after sitting in rice overnight its still not working. should i wait longer or just get a new phone?
