IPhone has some water damage

I put my iphone in my shoes when i went swimming and when i got out i put my hand in there and now the sound is all messed up. My iphone 5 is in a bag of rice right now, should that help? If not, please give more advice. I constantly play music on my iphone so its important.

I've had numerous things happen to my iPods and iPhones and they always end up doing fine after leaving them in a bag of rice for a day or so! It is because the rice absorbs the water! Your iPhone will be fine! No worries

If it got in the speakers i don't know if its gona clear up or it messed up you speakers. But if there's something infront of the speakers to protect them then wait until it dries in the rice maybe for a day then it should clear up, if not then at least you can still use headphones.

Your first concern is how to save phone from water damage. Here are some ways to minimize the damage, and if you are lucky, following these steps may be all you will need to do to get your phone back in working order.

(1) Remove it from the water immediately.
(2) Turn the iPhone off.
(3) Dry it off with a towel
(4) Grab a bowl and fill it with uncooked rice or you can also put your phone in with a bunch of silica packets.
(5) Put the phone in the bowl of rice and cover it up.
The purpose of this is to draw moisture out of the phone as quickly as possible. You can also let it air dry, however the above methods will work faster.

That's a very foolish thing to do, and you should never do that again.

• Get the iPhone away from the water as soon as possible. I guess you've done that.
• Rub the iPhone with a dry piece of cloth. Try to get all the water away from the outsides of the iPhone.
• Use a vacuum cleaner to suck out all the water from the insides of the speakers. Don't take the vacuum cleaner too close, or it'll produce static electricity.
• Leave it to dry in a hot (not too hot) place near the sun, with the speakers facing down so the water that got stuck in can't easily get out.
• Check if the sound is fixed. If it isn't fixed by now, I highly recommend that you take it to professional help.

  • My iphone has water damage? - 1 I dropped my iphone 4 in the sink and it was literally in there for two seconds but none of the speakers work. The phone still works perfectly but i can't even talk on the phone because i can't hear anything. I know the apple insurance that i have doesn't cover water damage but how much would it cost me to have it fixed? Will they give me a whole new phone or just fix it?
  • My iPhone 4s has recently recovered from water damage, will i experience some issues? My iPhone 4s was dropped in a pool last weekend, two days after it recovered and was working like normal. Today i started experiencing some problems with the speakers, they tend to work and then not work and then work again. I was wondering what will be some consequences or other issues i might experience and how to solve my speaker problem.
  • My iphone 4 has water damage I have an iPhone 4 that has been water damaged. I do not have apple care or apple insurance. I have assurion insurance, but I had a 60 day claim notice. Unfortunately, the claim expired so they can't help me. If i take my phone to the apple store, will they replace it for the out of warranty cost of $149?
  • My iphone 4 has water damage and won't turn on? My water bottle leaked and even though only a few drops of water got on my phone, it won't turn on. I'm immersing it in rice right now, but in case that doesn't work can I take it to the Genius bar? The two external water damage indicators are not red and my phone looks normal. Would they be able to tell anyway? Are there any other remedies other than rice I can use?
