IPhone hotspot without data roaming?
I'm roaming and have data roaming turned off. I would like to use the Wi-Fi network my iPhone is connected to to provide Wi-Fi for a laptop. The laptop does not connect to the hotspot until data roaming is turned on, but this is what I'm trying to avoid. How can I get my laptop to connect to my iPhone and then by extension to the Wi-Fi network? The laptop can't connect to the Wi-Fi directly for other reasons.
How about connecting to your iphone through Bluetooth if you can that should ensure data roaming stays off?
When your phone acts as a hotspot, it shares its internet with the computer. Data must be enabled on the phone to work. If you turn off data roaming and go outside your coverage area, you will not have any data connectivity on your phone, and thus will not be able to use the phone as a hotspot.
