IPhone not working after being in rice? (water damage)?

I dropped my iPhone 4S in the sink. In a panic I did briefly ring someone, but hung up after 2 rings (The sound was working). I then turned it off, the touch screen etc working fine. I put it in a bag of rice, sucked out the moisture as best I could and put it in the airing cupboard. I left it overnight, and then this morning tried it. For some reason it had turned itself on, and had received texts and facebook messages as usual. Everything worked completely normally, apart from the volume buttons. Also, when playing music the volume slider just wasn't there and it seemed to be on zero volume (I didn't try ringing anyone). I've put it back in the rice and Ill leave it 24 hours. Is this the right thing to do? Can I do anymore?

Do not use the phone for few hours and in the mean time keep the phone under sunlight so that the moisture goes away. It will dry up your phone and will make it easier and available for you to use it. Before switching it on make sure that the phone is completely dry. Else there's a chance of shot circuit.

You should have left the phone in the rice for at least 48hrs. When you remove it blow it over with a hair dryer to remove nay dust and let it settle for a couple of hours then try it. It should work ok fingers crossed.

  • IPHONE 5C WATER DAMAGE? Will putting it in rice help it? I dropped my phone 5c in water and didn't notice so it sat there for quite a while… But when I took it out it was working perfectly fine! I put it in rice and checked it again two hours later and it said that the battery had died. I plugged it in and it was charging like usual so I figured there was nothing wrong with it, I kept it in the rice anyways. Six hours later I took it out again and the screen won't turn on, and it does not respond to charging it either.
  • IPhone 5 camera not working after being dropped in water? My iphone 5 went for a little swim yesterday and I dried it off in rice. It seems to be fully functioning properly except the camera isn't working. What should I do? The phone is working at 100%. The only problem is the camera.also, I'm broke as *** and will not be replacing the phone
  • IPhone 4s working again after water damage? My phone was fully submerged in water when I found it in my purse a couple days ago. It has been sitting in rice since then, so I took it out and plugged it in and it was working perfectly fine for about ten minutes, but then it told me the temperature was too hot. Any advice? Has this happened to anyone before?
  • I put my iPhone in rice after water damage but it's still overheating? My iPhone 4 was only submerged in the water for a matter of seconds, but I dried it up as much as I could and then took it home and put it in a bag of dry rice for 3 days. I then turned it on and put it on charge, but it'll only charge up to 11% before overheating. If I put the phone back in the bag of rice for another couple of days do you think this issue will be solved?
