IPhone won't restore?

I'm trying to restore my old iPhone 6s to factory settings. When I try to restore it, iTunes tells me I need to update it to iOS 12.1.1, which is already installed. I accept the "Update & Restore" pop-up and get left with the "iTunes is downloading software for this iPhone" message, but I've left it sitting there for hours supposedly updating and nothing happens. How can I restore this phone and why is it taking forever to update when the software is already up to date?

I would try the restore again, if no better take it to an apple genius bar for them to help

Unless your phone is connected to your computer, it should not normally be trying to install iTunes. If you are connected, unplug it and get it fully restored first before installing iTunes. If you are not connected, and it's giving this iTunes messages, then it sounds like you need to take it to Apple repair center. But I would try one more time to restore it and as last resort go to the apple store.

This has happened before and it usually goes back to the apple logo and turns back on. But this time the screen remained black. I pressed the lock button and the logo appeared, only to have it turn off again, and then back on to the logo. This has been repeating now for hours. I tried restoring it in both Recovery Mode and DFU Mode and it didn't work in either. Anyone have any idea what i could try at this point?
  • If you disabled FindMyiPhone to restore your device, will the app be enabled again after the restore? A few weeks ago I upgraded to the iPhone SE and I restored the data from my iPhone 4s onto it. (I had to disable FindMyiPhone in the process). Little did I know that it would be lost/stolen 2 weeks later. Really need to know if FindMyiPhone would be enabled because I want to know if I still have any hope at all finding it. Thanks. I tried the app already… Says it's offline. Been waiting since.
