Is a Canon Powershot A2200 terrible for photography?

I've always liked photography. Taking pics of the sky and nature and animals and whatnot but I've never really had a good camera. I have an iPhone four and I manage to take some pics and honestly I think they are very good but I know that if I have a better camera the pics would be better as well. For Christmas my mom gave me her old camera which is a canon a2200.Is this camera good enough for me to take good nature pictures or should i try to sell it for whatever money and get a better one?

It's a very basic, beginner camera. Small sensor, no image stabilization. Although there are more expensive cameras that could do better, it's not bad, and probably a little step up in quality from a cell phone camera. You would not get much in resale, and a newer camera in the same price category would probably offer no significant improvement.
