Is Diptic worth the 99 cents?

I'm looking for a good iPhone app to make Instagram collages and everyone is raving about Diptic. Wondering if it is worth it to pay the buck or if there are other SIMPLE backgrounds on free apps that people like?

I don't need colorful backgrounds or shapes or anything. Just want a clean-cut, white background, framed photo collage app for iPhone.

Anything that is 99 cents probably won't set back your retirement.
