Is getting an iPhone more expensive than any other cell phone?

I was planning on buy an iPod touch, but then I realized that the iPhone costed the same. The thing is, I'm curious if the plan would cost more than any other cell phone plan. Since soon I will be alone driving on the roads, I really need a cell phone, so I will soon be getting one of those. Now, keep in mind, that I have to pay for anything I get and for phone service. My parent's aren't paying for it. Now, I know most 16 year old girls text like crazy, but I don't plan on it. I mean, I use facebook for that. So I would like to go with the minimum cost possible (I'll give you a virtual hug if you include how much that would cost!).

But my main question here would be does an iPhone monthly plan cost anymore than any other plan?

We'll it depends on how many gb you want and what version. The newer it is the more it cost so If you 16 gb or 8gb it like every other phone but more gb than that is a lot of money

Tmobile offers unlimited everything for $50 monthly after you bring your own phone, or an extra $25 a month for a phone. This gets much cheaper if you get a family plan, I believe it becomes closer to $30-35 a month plus the cost of the phone. Other providers will run you $70 or higher as well as an initial fee for the phone. The plans for an iphone no longer cost more than those for other smart phones.
