Is iPhone 3G still a good phone to buy?

I can't afford the 3GS considering I have a go phone plan and I only babysit. I'm wondering if its still okay to buy I'm not really worried about apps because I have an iPod touch 5th generation (it was a gift)

Hmm i guess its still a good phone i mean it is an iphone, but the earlier generations are super slow. Especially when they already came out with the iphone5. I personally have the iphone4s and i love it but my dads iphone5 is faster so i don't know how fast the iphone3 would be

Might be able to get a 4S instead if I wait a month.
