Is is mandatory to back up your iPhone before downloading iOS7?
Before downloading ios7 tomorrow, do I have to back up my iPhone 4S or do anything else? Is it mandatory?
You don't have to but if you want to keep your contacts music apps etc you should
It is highly recommended in order not loose any data. It is actually a really easy process, and if you even don't want to use your laptop or anything just go to iCloud settings on your phone and turn on iCloud syncing so you can back up with iCloud. I also have an iPhone 4s and i can't afford to loose any data so i definitely backed everything up.
I would always do this, no reason not to. I'll wait a week to upgrade the phone though, I always give it a week. Backup to icloud just to be safe and you can always sign on to http://www.icloud.com/...icloud.com to see what you have backed up, its pretty cool.
