Is it bad to leave your iPhone 4S plugged in after it has reached 100% battery?

I plug it in before I go to sleep at night.

Hmm, I do that as well, but I usually wake up in the middle of the night to take it out. There's a common thing that can happen when you do that, it's called overcharge, and if you do it a lot, there's a chance of your iPhone being overheated, then ruined.

Its fine, I've always done this with my iphone and have never had an issue.

Modern electronics are intelligent enough to cut off power when not needed, you will see the iPhones charge indicator turn from lightning bolt to a plug symbol when not charging but connected to a charger. This indicates that charging is finished. Just make sure you are using good quality or the original chargers to prevent fires or electrical shorts.

I actually overcharged my iphone and from what I see my iphone loses power and then recharges after a while when unpluged so long story short… Its okay to overcharge it

Smart phones have a fail safe to prevent overcharging. Once the battery is full, it stops receiving power.

It is fine to leave it on overnight.

Should this fail safe for whatever reason, fail, then the battery will overheat and leak, damaging your phone and cause a risk of fire. There have been no reports of this yet though.

  • Why is it bad to leave your charger on? Like for example, you have to take your iPhone out when it reaches 100%, or only charge it when there's little battery left. My friends and family have all told me to take it out once it's fully charged instead of leaving the charger plugged in, and I do take it out once it's at 100%, but I've always wondered why.
  • Is it safe to leave my iphone plugged in and on safe? I have to download sometbing that will take multiple hours, i eould like to know if it is safe to leave my iphone 4s plugged in charging while the screen remians on. Will the screen stop working?
  • Is it okay to unplug your charger before your battery reaches 100%? I have an iPhone 6 and I was wondering if it's harmful to the battery life if I unplug my charger before fully charging it because I'm going to be using a portable charger for the next few days but it only charges to about 60% and then automatically stops. Will this shorten my battery life?
